I recently did this with a group of very experienced improvisors who were really comfortable doing impressions, so to make it harder, I made them come up with impressions they were scared of doing — but that caused everyone to draw a blank. So if doing this with a group of fearless folks you might want to bring a list of “hard to do” impressions as a backup.

I think gibberish has a place too. Am not sure if there’s a definition of charisma, but it seems to be attached to people who just stay in the moment, out of their own heads. Doing Yes And in gibberish is great, although I don’t know if it teaches charisma per se… just makes its absence or presence clearer to the audience.

Thanks for your comment. Sounds like an interesting conference, but I’m afraid it’s a little far for me to travel (from New Zealand).

I started this blog because I wished someone else would do it, then realized that no one else would.
