Brain Training: Delayed mirror

By improbable

Here’s a great warm up that I just learned. I’m going to call it Delayed Mirror (because once again, I don’t know the real name).

-Get into pairs. Someone claps out a regular beat.

-Person A tells a story, saying a word on each beat.

-Person B repeats the story, repeating each word on the next beat (at the same time as person A is saying the next word).

Then

-Person B does a series of actions (stand on one leg, raise one arm etc) changing actions on each beat.

-Person A follows the actions, one beat behind.

Then

Do both at the same time. Person A leading the story and following the actions, person B following the story and leading the actions.

This targets key improv muscles: Observing and remembering what your partner is doing, while at the same time creating something yourself.
